Shark Snap Shot:

The Sharks chomped three out of a possible eight points last week in four games highlighted by a 2-0 shutout victory over Charlotte on Saturday at the DCU Center behind Daren Machesney's 34 saves. Worcester began the week with a 6-2 loss at Portland on Tuesday, followed by a 3-2 overtime loss to the Monarchs on Friday. Worcester closed out the week with a tough 7-2 loss at the DCU Center on Sunday to the Whale. The Sharks player of the week nominee was center Andrew Desjardins; as he went 1-2-3pts in three games with a fighting major and his third NHL recall. The Sharks enter the week in 4th place in the Atlantic Division, two points behind the CT Whale for the 3rd and final guaranteed playoff spot in the division with 17 games remaining.

#1 Daren Machesney made 34 saves in his first start at the DCU Center in a 2-0 win over the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday!

#2 Sean Sullivan tied a career high with his 12th goal of the season on Tuesday followed by two assists and a big blocked shot in the 2-0 win over the Checkers on Saturday.

#3 Andrew Desjardins scored a goal and had a great bout in a 3-2OTL to the Monarchs on Friday!

Rewind the Tape:

3.1.11 - Worcester 2 - Pirates 6 - L - Cumberland County Civic Center

The Portland Pirates charged out to a 3-0 first period lead and never looked back as the Sharks dropped a 6-2 decision on Tuesday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, ME. Dan DaSilva and Sean Sullivan each scored their 12th goals of the season and Tyson Sexsmith made 23 saves for Worcester. Frazer McLaren jumped into 2nd place all-time in Sharks history with 390 penalty minutes, as he accumulated nine penalty minutes in the road loss to Portland.

3.4.11 - Worcester 2 - Manchester 3 - OTL - DCU Center

The Sharks jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead but the Monarchs would score three unanswered goals, as Worcester fell 3-2 in overtime at the DCU Center on Friday night. Benn Ferriero and Andrew Desjardins each netted goals and Tyson Sexsmith made 28 saves for Worcester. The game featured three fights and a nine person brawl in the second period but concluded at 3:24 of the overtime period with the 17th goal of the season by Oscar Moller.

3.5.11 - Worcester 2 - Charlotte 0 - W - DCU Center

Daren Machesney made a breakaway stop on Oskar Osala with two minutes left in the third period in a 1-0 game as the Sharks held on for a hard fought 2-0 shutout victory over the Charlotte Checkers Saturday night at the DCU Center. Kevin Henderson scored in the first period and Tommy Wingels scored into an empty net for Worcester as Daren Machesney earned his second shutout of the season with 34 saves.

3.6.11 - Worcester 2 - Connecticut 7 - L - DCU Center

Connecticut dominated play Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Sharks 7-2 at the DCU Center. With the win, Connecticut moved ahead of Worcester for sole possession of 3rd place in the Atlantic Division.

Cory Quirk and Brandon Mashinter scored for the Sharks in the hard hitting affair. Wade Redden scored twice for the Whale as five players' recorded multi-point games for Connecticut.

It was the second most lopsided loss (5 goals) at home in Sharks history.

Sharks in the Atlantic: The Sharks are swimming in 4th place with 68 points (28-23-4-8) in the Atlantic Division through 63 games, which is 15 points behind the first place Manchester Monarchs (65gp), 13 points behind the 2nd place Portland Pirates (58gp), and one point behind the 3rd place CT Whale (63gp). The Sharks lead the 5th place Falcons by 3 points (64gp) and the 6th place Bruins by 7 points (63gp) followed by the 7th place Sound Tigers with 49 points (62gp) to round out a very choppy Atlantic Division.

400 WINS + and 1000 + games...

*400 WINS!....With the 4-1 victory vs. Springfield on November 1, 2009, head coach Roy Sommer became just the 4th coach in AHL history to reach the 400 win plateau.

*1000 GAMES... With the 3-1 victory at Springfield on January 14, 2011, head coach Roy Sommer became just the 4th coach in AHL history to reach the 1,000 games plateau.

*In Coach Sommer's first AHL victory.... The Kentucky Thoroughblades defeated the Albany River Rats 6-4 at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky on October 17th 1998. Coincidentally, Assistant Coach David Cunniff recorded an assist as a member of the River Rats in the hockey game.

*Assistant Coach David Cunniff has joined Coach Sommer in 316 of the 470 victories (67%)... Coach Cunniff filled in for Roy in a 3-2SOW in Springfield on December 29, 2010 as coach Sommer was in California attending his father's funeral.

*Gone but not forgotten...

Before the

Sharks on January 10th, there was a

moment of silence for former Sharks and Falcons player Tom Cavanagh who passed away

on January 6th

in Providence, RI. Tom Cavanagh played for coach Sommer in Cleveland, and then came to Worcester when the franchise relocated for the 2006-07 season. He played for the Sharks through the end of the 2008-09 season and finished his Worcester career with point totals of 46-92-138. He remains the team's all-time leader in points and assists. A graduate of Toll Gate High in Warwick, R.I., and then Harvard University, Cavanagh eventually went on and played for the San Jose Sharks. Our thoughts and prayers to the entire Cavanagh family.

*Captains for the 2010-11 season: Jay Leach was the captain before he was traded to New Jersey on Feb 9th and Mike Moore was named the Sharks 4th captain in team history on Feb 11th. Assistant Captains on the road: Jonathan Cheechoo (1st year) and Nick Petrecki (1st year). Assistant Captains at home: Andrew Desjardins (1st year) and Sean Sullivan (1st year)... Dan DaSilva, Cory Quirk, Joe Loprieno, and Frazer McLaren have also worn the assistant captain "A".

*From east to west..... The Worcester Sharks have had 13 different players (29 call-ups) receive at least one call up this season to San Jose... Currently; Justin Braun, Andrew Desjardins, Logan Couture, Jason Demers, Derek Joslin, Joe Pavelski, Devin Setoguchi, Marc-Edourd Vlasic, and Doug Murray are all former Worcester Sharks that are currently playing with the San Jose Sharks.

*New Faces... On Feb 8th, the Sharks sent Jay Leach and Steve Zalewski to the Devils for Patrick Davis and Mike Swift.

Patrick Davis, a six-foot-two, 195-pound native of Sterling, MI was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in nine career NHL games with the New Jersey Devils over two seasons (2008-2010), posting one goal. This season with the Albany Devils, Davis, 24, posted 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 40 games. Davis will wear number 15 with Worcester. Patrick scored his first goal as a Shark on Feb 19 in a 3-2OTL in Springfield.

Mike Swift, a five-foot-eight, 175-pound native of Peterborough, Ontario has spent the past three seasons with Lowell/Albany after signing with the Devils organization as a free agent in April 2008. This season, he was second on the Albany team in scoring (T-first in goals) with 28 points (16 goals, 12 assists) and 48 penalty minutes in 48 games. Mike led the Lowell Devils in goals last season and will wear number 16 with Worcester. He scored his first goal as a Sharks on Feb 20 in a 4-3SOW in Providence.

*Holy Cross Alum... defenseman Jon Landry signed an AHL contract with the Worcester Sharks on Saturday, March 5, becoming the first Holy Cross alum to suit up for the Sharks. The 26-year-old native from Lexington, MA played four seasons at Holy Cross from 2003-07 accumulating 86 points (24-62-86) in 133 games along with 188 penalty minutes. He began the season with Kalamazoo in the ECHL and had 20 points (4-16-20) in 39 games along with 60 penalty minutes. Landry also played 10 games in Bridgeport and one game with Grand Rapids on a tryout basis this season. Jon has also suited up for Elmira, Johnstown, Cincinnati, and Ontario in the ECHL and Syracuse and Rochester in the AHL. Landry wears #5 for Worcester.

*Home openers... the Sharks are 2-1-1-1 in five home openers at the DCU Center, including a 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins on Saturday. Worcester was the last team in the AHL to host their home opener, and October 23rd was the Sharks latest home opener on record. The Sharks lost in a shootout 5-4 to Portland in 2006, defeated Portland 3-2 in 2007, defeated the Bruins in overtime 3-2 in 2008, and lost to Lowell 7-5 in 2009.

*Score first... the Sharks have scored FIRST 31 times in 63 games this season (23-6-1-1) after scoring first in 42-of-80 games last season (34-6-0-2).... Benn Ferriero (5) Jonathan Cheechoo (4), Kevin Henderson (3), T.J. Trevelyan (4), Sean Sullivan (2), Dan DaSilva (2), Andrew Desjardins (3), Matt Irwin (1), Steve Zalewski (1), Chris Lawrence (1), Brandon Mashinter (1), Justin Braun (1), Jamie McGinn (2), and Joe Loprieno (1) have the others.

*Slim Margins... 32 of the Sharks 63 games have been decided by one goal this season... Worcester is 15-5-4-8 in those 32 games.

*Don't allow 4... The Sharks are 27-8-3-5 when they allow three goals or less in a game...BUT... Worcester is 1-15-1-3 when they allow four goals or more.

*Can't score 4... The Sharks had been held under four goals in 20 out of 22 games (49GF) from Dec 17th - Feb 6th and had a 9-10-1-2 record during that stretch.

*Quarter Mark... the Sharks finished the 1st quarter of the AHL season with a 10-6-1-3 record good for 24 points through 20 games. It was the best first quarter by the Worcester Sharks in five seasons.

*through 40 games... the Sharks finished the 1st half of the AHL season with a 19-14-2-5 record good for 45 points through 40 games. It was the 2nd best first half by the Worcester Sharks in five seasons. Worcester was 18-15-1-6 (43pts) in 2006-07, 18-16-3-3 (42pts) in 2007-08, 21-18-0-1 (43pts) in 2008-09, and 24-13-1-2 (51pts) through 40 games last season.

*T.J. reaches 100.... Sharks forward T.J. Trevelyan skated in his 100th game for the Sharks on January 10th and scored his 35th goal as a Shark in the 3-2 shootout loss to Springfield. Trevelyan currently has 15 points in his last 18 games (7-8-15).

*Z reached 200 games... Steve Zalewski became just the 5th player in Sharks history to hit the 200gp plateau in the Sharks 3-1 win in Springfield on Friday, January 14, 2011. "Z" had skated in 210 games for Worcester, surpassing Riley Armstrong for 2nd all-time and was the Sharks iron man with 53 games played in a row before he was traded to New Jersey on Feb 8th. The late Tom Cavanagh holds the Sharks record with 216gp.

*Shootout Hero... Dan DaSilva continues to lead the Sharks in the shootout this season. DD is 4-for-8 in the shootout with two game winners. DaSilva is the only Sharks player to dress in all 63 games this season for Worcester.

*13 and counting... The Sharks have been in a team record 13 shootouts already this season. Worcester has a 5-8 record in the shootout. Worcester has a 26.9% (18-for-67) scoring proficiency in the shootout 36.9% (24-for-65) in goals allowed.

*19 and counting... Worcester been involved in 19 overtime games this season, 1 shy of the club record of 20, accomplished in 06-07 and 07-08.

*Sharks feast on Falcons... Worcester have a point in 16-in-17 games against the Springfield Falcons (13-1-3) and 21-3-3 in the last 27 games vs. the Falcons with the only regulation loss coming in a 4-2 decision on Feb 23rd at the DCU Center. Alex Stalock is 11-0-1 in 12 appearances against the Falcons.

*Braun in NHL... Justin Braun made his NHL debut in Vancouver on Nov 26... Justin played 16:56 in the loss to the Canucks... Braun recorded two assists in his 2nd NHL game in a 4-3W in Edmonton on Nov 24 and was the #3 star with a +2 rating in 22:48 of action.... Braun has played in 16 games with San Jose (1-8-9) this season. His first NHL goal came in a 4-0 win in Ottawa against Pascal LeClaire on December 2. Justin Braun represented the Sharks at the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic in Hershey and fired a 95.6mph shot in the hardest shot competition. Justin is currently on recall to San Jose.

*Sullivan Scores... Sharks defenseman Sean Sullivan already has 12 goals (2 GWG) this season from the Sharks blue line, good for 3rd in the AHL. The 26-year-old from Boston, MA had 12 goals and 49 points in San Antonio last season. Sean ranks 4th on the Sharks with 32 points this season. Sullivan was featured on Sports Center as the #4 play of the top ten countdown for his hip check on Jason Pitton on Jan 22 (BRI): Watch HERE.

*Defense Scoring... Sharks defensemen have scored 35 of the Sharks 168 goals this season, good for 20.8% of the Sharks goals scored this season. Sean Sullivan has 12, Matt Irwin 9.

*Irwin scoring... Sharks rookie defenseman Matt Irwin has 9 goals and 15 assists from the Sharks blue line this season. The rookie from UMASS-Amherst received his first NHL recall on Feb 18th but did not dress for San Jose.

*Give me Moore... #8 has played 178 games in a Worcester Sharks jersey and has compiled 48 points (10-38-48) and 262 penalty minutes. His +36 is 4th best in Sharks history. He recorded his first professional two goal game on November 14 vs. Norfolk and was the #1 star. Moore scored his first NHL goal in his 2nd NHL game in a 4-3OTL in Colorado on November 17th. Mike scored at 9:14 of the 2nd period on a slap shot assisted by Dany Heatley on Peter Budaj to give the Sharks a 3-1 lead. He has also been the Sharks Man of the Year for the previous two seasons for his continued work in the Worcester community. Moore was named the 4th captain in Sharks history on Feb 11th before the Sharks defeated the Falcons 5-0 in Albany.

*Who's your BF ... Sharks 2nd year forward Benn Ferriero started his sophomore campaign on FIRE with NINE goals through 10 games to lead the Worcester Sharks offensively. Benn has played 29 games with the San Jose Sharks and has five goals, four assists and +7.

*Sheriff back in town... Frazer McLaren returned to Worcester on Nov 20 after beginning the season with the San Jose Sharks. Frazer has played in 154 games in a Worcester Sharks sweater accumulating 26 points (12-15-27) and 394 penalty minutes. McLaren ranks 2nd all time in penalty minutes by a Worcester Sharks player (Brennan Evans 381, and Brad Staubitz 462). The Sherriff missed 21 games due to a lower body injury before returning to the lineup on January 11 vs. Albany.

*Sharks in the Atlantic... the Sharks have a 23-15-4-6 record against Atlantic Division prey this season.

*Good when leading... the Sharks have a 16-3-1-1 when leading after the 1st period of play and a 21-1-1-1 when leading after the 2nd period of play this season.

*Close encounters... the Sharks won for the first time at home by three goals or more in a 5-2 victory over the Monarchs on Feb 27. At home, the Sharks are 10-2-2-4 in one goal games, 5-5-0-0 in two goal games, and 1-3-0-0 in three + goal games.

*Outshot but not outscored.... Worcester is 10-6-1-2 when they get outshot during a game.

*Reunion of sorts...Jonathan Cheechoo returns to the Sharks organization in Worcester and will once again play for head coach Roy Sommer.... Coach Sommer coached Cheechoo in Kentucky and Cleveland in the AHL before his NHL days. Before this season, Cheechoo had 56-63-119pts in 137 games under Coach Sommer. "Cheech" ranks 1st in Worcester with 47 points (18-29-47) in 55 games this season.

*Familiar Faces...21 players returned to the 2010-11 roster from the regular season Atlantic Division championship team including four 20 goal scorers (DaSilva, Mashinter, Trevelyan, and Zalewski) and team MVP Alex Stalock.

*56... The Sharks allowed a franchise record 56 shots on goal in Norfolk on Saturday, October 16th in a 7-2 loss to the Admirals... the previous high for most shots allowed in a game was on April 6, 2007 when the Sharks allowed 52 shots in a 4-1 win over the Wolf Pack at the DCU Center.

*24... The Sharks tied a franchise record with 24 shots in the first period vs. the Sound Tigers on January 28. Worcester fired a season high 48 shots in the 3-2 victory.

*47... Carter Hutton made 47 saves in his Sharks debut on Saturday, October 16th in Norfolk.

*Nice Start... Carter Hutton made his first start of the season on Sunday, October 31st in Providence and made 37 saves to pick up the victory in a 6-1 win over the Bruins.

*Great Start... goaltender Daren Machesney became the first player in franchise history to post a shutout in his first start for Worcester. Machesney made 25 saves in a 5-0 win at Springfield on February 11. He followed up with a shutout in his first start at the DCU Center with 34 saves in a 2-0 win over the Checkers on March 5.

*First AHL Win... Sharks goaltender Jeff Jakaitis made 29 saves and went 4-for-6 in the shootout in his 3rd career AHL start in a 4-3 shootout victory in Providence on Feb 20. The 27-year-old native of Rochester NY had a 18-16-3 record with the Dayton Gems in the CHL before he signed a PTO with Worcester on Feb 15. He played college hockey at Lake Superior State Univ. Jeff was released on Feb 24.

*6 and counting... The Sharks have used a franchise record six different goaltenders this season. (Stalock 41gp, Hutton 12gp, Gill 1gp, Machesney 6gp, Jakaitis 3gp, and Sexsmith 4gp)

*44 and counting... the Sharks have set a franchise record with 44 players on their roster this season.

*San Jose to Worcester... Sharks rookie netminder Carter Hutton picked up his first professional shutout vs. the Bruins on February 5. (20 saves). Earlier in the day in Boston, he served as the backup goaltender for the San Jose Sharks in their 2-0 victory in Boston.

*Déjà vu... the Sharks franchise picked up identical 2-0 victories over the Bruins franchise on February 5th. In the afternoon, San Jose shutout Boston 2-0 behind a goal by Logan Couture, an empty netter by Devin Setoguchi, and 26 saves by Antti Niemi. At night, Worcester defeated Providence 2-0 in Worcester behind a goal by Joe Loprieno, an empty netter by Brandon Mashinter, and 20 saves by Carter Hutton.

*Young Guns... the Sharks have dressed 17 rookies, including three from UMASS-Amherst (Braun, Irwin, and Marcou) and two from UMASS-Lowell (Hutton and Schaus).

*Vets... Two veterans will provide leadership for the Sharks squad this season, which include: former Maurice Richard winner Jonathan Cheechoo and the leading goal scorer for the Sharks from last season, T.J. Trevelyan.

*Super Sunday... the Sharks are 10-4-0-2 on Sunday afternoon games this season... including a 7-2-0-2 record at the DCU Center.

*Home/Away goals... the Sharks have scored 85 goals at home (32 games) and allowed 91 at the DCU Center.... while scoring 84 goals (31 games) on the road and allowing 101 goals on the road.

*Good Starts... Worcester has outscored their opponents 53-44 (+9) in the first period, 59-58 (+1) in the 2nd period, but outscored 50-78 (-28) in the third period.

*I'll take a draft....Nine Worcester Sharks players were drafted by the San Jose Sharks. (Braun, Cheechoo, Lucia, McCarthy, McGinn, McLaren, Petrecki, Stalock, Wingels)

*You always remember your first pro..... Justin Braun (UMASS-Amherst) scored his first professional goal vs. Providence on October 23... Matt Irwin (UMASS-Amherst) scored his first professional goal vs. Rochester October 29... Joe Loprieno scored his first professional goal vs. Charlotte on November 27... Cam MacIntyre scored his first professional in his first professional game vs. Portland on December 5... Nick Schaus scored his first professional goal, the game winner vs. Portland on December 5.

*Firsts last Week.... Daren Machesney picked up his first win in his first start at the DCU Center on Saturday. Jon Landry suited up his first game as a Shark on Saturday.

*Back-to-back Shutouts... the Sharks posted back-to-back shutouts in franchise history with a 2-0 blanking of the Bruins on Feb 5th (Hutton 20 saves) and a 5-0 whitewash of the Falcons in Springfield on Feb 11th (Machesney 25 saves).

*Shutout streak.... The Sharks had a shutout streak of 152:22 with P.J. Fenton scoring at 15:20 of the 1st period for Rochester on Feb 16 and the Monarchs Jon Zeiler scoring the last goal against the Sharks at 7:58 of the 3rd period past Alex Stalock in the Sharks 4-3SOW over Manchester on Feb 4.

*Streakers... Justin Braun (1-5-6) has a five game point streak... Andrew Desjardins has a three game point streak (1-2-3)... Jamie McGinn (3-0-3), Tommy Wingels (1-1-2), and Sean Sullivan (0-3-3) have a two game point streak.

*Stole it from Bill Ballou... The Sharks are 11-8-1-0 when there two referees calling penalties... Worcester did not have a single power play in their 4-3W over Springfield on Nov 21 - it marked the first time in 337 regular season games the Sharks did not have a power play chance....then on Feb 23 the Sharks were again held without a power play against the Falcons in a 4-2 loss. The game saw only 1 minor penalty. (Loprieno for holding at 14:59 of 2nd period)

*Through the years... the Sharks finished 2010 with a 45-25-10 record.... Followed by a 45-31-4 record in 2009, a 35-41-7 record in 2008, and a 41-27-10 record in 2007.

*I like CT... Sharks forward Cory Quirk has scored three this season with all three tallies coming against teams based in CT (2 vs. BRI, 1 vs. CT). "Quirky" has 11 goals in a Sharks sweater with 6 of them coming against the Sound Tigers.

*Score in Game #1... David Marshall became the 9th Sharks player to score in his Sharks debut on December 18 at Bridgeport. (Cheechoo, Darche, Spang, Pavelski, Raduns, Larose, Lucia, MacIntyre)

*Crazed Rat grabs 30... with his game winning goal on Nov 21st vs. the Falcons, Andrew Desjardins became the 9th player in franchise history to score 30 goals. Desjardins skated in his 200th game as a Shark on February 5 vs. the Bruins and picked up a fighting major.

*Plus Players... Andrew Desjardins ranks 1st in franchise history with a +47 rating while line mate and fellow Crazed Rat Dan DaSilva is +44.

*Massachusetts... The Sharks have FIVE players born and raised in Massachusetts (Sean Sullivan - Boston, Cory Quirk - Brockton, Benn Ferriero - Essex, John McCarthy - Andover, and Jon Landry - Lexington) In all; the Sharks have 15 American born players and 13 Canadians.

*NHL Experience... the Sharks dressed 12 players with NHL experience on Jan 28-29 in back-to-back victories at home over the Sound Tigers and the Bruins on Feb 4-5th.

*Original Crazed Rat back... forward John McCarthy returned to Worcester on January 28 after beginning the season in San Jose. One of the original crazed rats, McCarthy has played in 36 games with San Jose this season (2-2-4)... John was recently loaned back to Worcester on March 6.

*Packing them in... the Sharks drew 33,593 fans during the six game home stand which concluded on February 5 at the DCU Center (average of 5,599). The Sharks 7,273 attendance on Jan 29 pushed them over the 750,000 mark in four + seasons in Worcester.

*All 5 years... Jamie McGinn became the first player in Worcester Sharks history to dress in at least one game in the first five seasons with the Worcester Sharks when he played on January 28 vs. the Sound Tigers. The 22-year-old forward from Fergus, Ontario has played in 99 games for Worcester (34-32-66) and 75 penalty minutes.

*Goals for Petrecki... 2nd year defenseman Nick Petrecki has 9 points (3-6-9) and 99 penalty minutes in 50 games for the Sharks this season.... Nick has 9 fighting majors and leads the Sharks in penalty minutes....The 21-year-old from Schenectady, NY had 14 points last season (2-12-14) with the Sharks.... He received his first NHL recall of Feb 17 and did not play in any games for San Jose.

*Loprieno the forward... D-Man Joe Loprieno has played forward in 10 games for the Sharks this season and scored his first pro goal in the first period vs. Charlotte on Nov 27.

*Special Teams... Worcester ranks 26th in the AHL on the PK at 78.8% (50-for-236) and 17th in the AHL on the power play with a 17.7% conversion rating (46-for-260). The Sharks have scored 4 shorthanded goals and have allowed 10 shorthanded tallies.

*4 shorties... the Sharks have scored 4 shorthanded goals this season, all of them coming at home. Worcester is 4-0-0-0 in those games. Jamie McGinn has 2 while Andrew Desjardins and Kevin Henderson have the others.

*9 with 10... the Sharks have 9 different players with at least ten goals this season (Cheechoo 18, Swift 17, Trevelyan 14, Ferriero 13, Sullivan 12, DaSilva 12, Desjardins 12, Mashinter 12, and Wingels 11.

*Bad Sharks!... The Sharks and Whale combined for 138 penalty minutes (WOR 47, CT 91) on December 4 at CT, with 124 penalty minutes in the 2nd period alone (10 majors,7 minors, 2 misconducts, and 4 game misconducts).

*Follow the AHL leaders.... Benn Ferriero ranks 2nd with 3 shorthanded assists... Alex Stalock ranks 4th in minutes played with 2397... Sean Sullivan is 3rd among AHL defensemen with 12 goals.

*Stalock the stopper... Alex Stalock grabbed his 50th professional win vs. Portland on December 5....He has allowed just 64 goals in his last 29 games (2.20 goals against per game) after allowing 25 goals in his first 7 games.... at the time of his injury, Alex ranked 1st in the AHL with 2397 minutes played and 2nd in saves with 1025. Stalock is a perfect 4-for-4 stopping penalty shots, including two this season (the Bruins Roussel on Oct 23 and the Monarchs Elkins on Dec 19). Stalock left the game injured on February 4th vs. Manchester and is out for the rest of the season after season ending surgery on Feb 14.

*Al in the NHL... Alex Stalock made his NHL debut in San Jose on Tuesday, Feb 1. Stalock came in relief of Niemi down 3-0 midway through the 2nd period vs. Phoenix. Stalock made 9 saves and got the victory in a wild come from behind 5-3 win over the Coyotes.
