Wolves Go Green for Annual St. Patrick's Day Fundraiser
March 7, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves will don special St. Patrick's Day jerseys, presented by Jewel-Osco, at home games on Fri., March 11; Sat., March 19; and Sun., March 20. The game-worn jerseys will be auctioned and raffled during the games as part of the 15th annual St. Patrick's Day fundraiser.
Proceeds from these one-of-a-kind jerseys will benefit Easter Seals of Metropolitan Chicago. Easter Seals is dedicated to helping people with disabilities and special needs, and their families, live better lives. The Wolves have raised more than $450,000 for Chicagoland charities, including Easter Seals, through the St. Patrick's Day fundraiser since 1996.
This year's St. Patrick's Day inspired jerseys were designed in-house by Wolves Manager of Creative Services, Christina Moritz, and mix traditional Irish heritage with a City of Chicago theme. The jersey is covered in a forest green Celtic pattern with a plaid horizontal stripe across the chest and decked with the Wolves logo and a drawstring neck. The plaid consists of forest green and tan stripes, with intersecting stripes of blue and red to add a touch of Chicago's colors.
All but four jerseys will be available via silent auction, which will take place in the Allstate Arena's Northeast lobby when doors open for the game on March 11, and will close at the end of the second period on March 20. In addition, goaltender PETER MANNINO will be wearing a custom-made St. Patrick's Day goalie mask, which will also be available in the auction. A separate blind auction will be held for forward MICHAEL DAVIES' jersey, and will close at the end of the game on March 20.
Fans can also purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win one of three remaining jerseys belonging to forwards SPENCER MACHACEK, RILEY HOLZAPFEL and FREDRIK PETTERSSON, who were selected for the raffle by fan voting on chicagowolves.com. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
