Shakur Signs with Wizards for Remainder of Season

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced Monday that the Washington Wizards have signed point guard Mustafa Shakur (6-4, 195, Arizona) for the remainder of the season.

Shakur averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.9 steals in 23 games and starts for the Vipers. He earned a GATORADE Call-Up on January 22, signing the first of two 10-day contracts. Shakur is averaging 3.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 9.3 minutes in six games off the bench with the Wizards.

Shakur takes the roster spot of point guard Mike Bibby (6-2, 195, Arizona), who was bought out of his contract earlier on Monday.
