Shaker Pond to Unveil Red Claws Ice Cream Flavors

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, will officially unveil Red Claws Crunch Ice Cream and the Crusher Crunch Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich, providing free samples tomorrow night to fans in attendance at the Red Claws final home game of the 2010-11 season. The new products are a partnership with Shaker Pond Ice Cream of Alfred, Maine.
Red Claws Crunch Ice Cream and the Crusher Crunch Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich will be available for retail sale throughout southern Maine. Red Claw Crunch Ice Cream will be sold in 3 gallon tubs, quarts, & 8 oz. cups while the Crusher Crunch Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich will be individually wrapped and sold as a novelty item.
This marks the third Red Claws co-branded product to hit the retail market. During the team's inaugural season, the Red Claws launched Gritty's Red Claws Ale in partnership with Gritty McDuff's and the Red Claws Hoopie Pie in partnership with Isamax Snacks.
"Shaker Pond impressed us with their drive and ingenuity, not to mention their incredible product," Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings said. "We have known since we began that we wanted to have a Red Claws-branded ice cream product, but it wasn't until Shaker Pond that we knew we had found the right partner to produce it." "The first two products we launched last season have been successful beyond even our expectations," Jennings continued. "Both the Hoopie Pie and Red Claws Ale have proven to be very popular, and their availability continues to expand each month. We hope that retailers and consumers will be as welcoming to Red Claws Crunch Ice Cream and the Crusher Crunch Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich."
Established in 2008 by co-founders and owners Ryan Whitten and David Swett, Shaker Pond Ice Cream is based in Alfred, Maine and distributes ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, and other dessert novelties to retail locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
