Austin Spurs News Release

NEW YORK, March 30, 2011 - The Utah Jazz signed guard Kyle Weaver of the Austin Toros for the 19th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Weaver's call-up, his first, increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 96.

In 30 games (24 starts) this season with Austin and the Iowa Energy, Weaver has averaged 15.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He's scored in double figures in all but five of his games this season, and had highs of 32 points and 13 rebounds with Iowa in a win over Sioux Falls on Dec. 1.

A third-year pro who was in camp with the Chicago Bulls this fall, Weaver (6-6, 200) was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats in the second round (38th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, and then was traded to Oklahoma City that summer. Weaver appeared in 68 regular season games (19 starts) with the Thunder from 2008 to 2010, averaging 4.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists. The Thunder assigned Weaver to the Tulsa 66ers four times over those two seasons, during which he averaged 13.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists in seven regular season games. In four postseason games with Tulsa last year, Weaver averaged 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists, helping to lead the 66ers to the NBA D-League Finals.

Weaver played four collegiate seasons at Washington State, and became the first player in Pac-10 Conference history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists, 175 steals and 75 blocks in a career. He was named Second Team All-Pac-10 and to the Pac-10 All-Defensive team as a senior in 2008, and played for USA Basketball in the 2007 Pan-American Games in Brazil.

Weaver is expected to join the Jazz today, and should be available when they host the Lakers on Friday night at 10:30 p.m. ET.
