Oklahoma City Thunder Reassigns Aldrich to NBA D-League Affiliate Tulsa 66ers

NEW YORK, March 30, 2010 ‚¬" Oklahoma City Thunder center Cole Aldrich was reassigned to the Tulsa 66ers, the Thunder ‚¬â„¢s NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignment marks the 52nd time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the third and final assignment this season for Aldrich, a rookie out of Kansas.

Aldrich (6-11, 245) was previously assigned on Nov. 24 and Dec. 30. He ‚¬â„¢s appeared in 19 games (all starts) this season for Tulsa, averaging 10.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 29.2 minutes. Aldrich has seen time in 18 games this season with Oklahoma City, averaging 1.0 points and 1.9 rebounds in 7.9 minutes.

The Thunder acquired Aldrich, the 11th overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft, in a draft-day swap with the New Orleans Hornets. A member of Kansas ‚¬â„¢ National Championship team in 2008, Aldrich averaged 9.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in 111 games over a three-year career with the Jayhawks. The school ‚¬â„¢s record holder for blocks in a season (125), Aldrich was an AP Third Team All-American and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a junior.

Aldrich joins the 66ers in anticipation of the team ‚¬â„¢s final two games of the regular season, a home set against the Dakota Wizards on Friday and Saturday. Tulsa has clinched a berth in the NBA D-League playoffs, which begin next week.
