Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (4-7-1-1) are heading 90 miles east to take on the Stockton Thunder (7-4-0-1), tonight, at Stockton Arena. This is the second of 15 meetings between these clubs this season. San Francisco holds the edge in the season series, 1-0-0-0.
The last time the Bulls faced off with the Thunder, San Francisco came away with a 3-2 victory in Stockton. Mark Lee had the game-winner with less than three minutes left in the game. Chris Crane and Dean Ouellet also scored. Kyle Bigos, Jordan Morrison, Collin Bowman, Brett Parnham, and Crane registered assists. Tyler Beskorowany had 28 saves in the win.
Last Sunday, the Bulls lost a penalty-filled tilt against the Ontario Reign, 3-1. After falling behind 2-0 through two periods, San Francisco attempted a comeback. Crane scored a power play goal 28 seconds into the third to reduce the deficit to one. Ontario scored one more to seal it. Lee and Ouellet had assists in the game. The two sides combined for 22 infractions and 53 penalty minutes.
With his goal on Sunday afternoon, Crane has a four-game point streak. He has lit the lamp a team-high four times. He also leads the team in shots (41), and is second in points (7). In addition, the last time he went up against Stockton he posted a two-point night.
Dating back to last season, the Bulls have played the Thunder very well. All-time, they're 7-5-2 against their closest rivals. The Bulls will need to slow down rookie forward Andrew Clark. He is tied for the team lead in goals (5), and is second on the team in points (11). Among rookies, he is tied for fifth in the league in scoring.
San Francisco is tied for sixth place in the Western Conference with ten points with the Utah Grizzlies. Stockton is in fourth place in the Western Conference with 15 points, one behind the Colorado Eagles, and one ahead of the Idaho Steelheads.
This weekend the Bulls return home for two games. On Friday they take on the Idaho Steelheds for Ghirardelli Chocolate Night, and on Saturday they face off with the Utah Grizzlies for a Cow Bell Giveaway. In addition, the San Francisco Firefighter Local 798 will be hosting a Toy Drive. Both games start at 7:30pm.
