Seven up, RiverDogs win

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond RiverDogs came out smoking and gunning and never let up as the team fired seven goals past Elmira goaltenders enroute to a 7-4 win in front of a crowd of 3,142 at the Richmond Coliseum. Dan Vandermeer led Richmond scorers with four assists and deuces wild from snipers Mike Oliveira and John DiPace plus a three-point night from Joey Bastien. Doug Groenestege was in nets for the RiverDogs as they creep closer to the .500 mark with a record of 9-10-2 for 20 points. The RiverDogs have now gone 9-5-2 since beginning the season at a dismal 0-5.

The RiverDogs now face Fort Wayne tomorrow night at 7:35pm. It is Teddy Bear Toss Night. Fans are asked to bring in new Teddy Bears and when the RiverDogs score their first goal of the night they can toss the bears onto the ice. The RiverDogs players and mascot Razz will deliver all teddy bears collected to Childrens Hospitals throughout Richmond.
