Seven-Run Ninth Inning Rally Stuns Lynchburg

Frederick Keys News Release
Trailing by two runs into the top of the ninth inning a patient approach led to the unraveling of the Lynchburg pen, as three Keys walked to open the ninth in a seven-run momentous rally as Frederick took the rubber match of the three-game series 10-7.
Leading off the ninth inning was Keys 3B Bobby Stevens who worked a seven-pitch walk, only swinging once. Lynchburg closer Donnie Joseph became unsettled, walking LF Xavier Avery and CF Kyle Hudson while uncorking two wild pitches in the process. All of a sudden without a hit the Keys had tied the game at 5-apiece.
The hits would come as DH Billy Rowell shot an RBI-single into LF to give the Keys a 6-5 lead. Two batters later SS Pedro Florimon cemented the lead with his fourth home run as a Key in 2010, a three-run drive to right-field to up the advantage to 9-5. Another run would come home as the Keys sent 11-men to the plate in the 9th inning.
Earlier on the night Florimon almost looked the part of goat. Tied at 3-3, Florimon's sixth inning error opened the door to a two-run inning as the Hillcats took their lone lead of the night at 5-3.
But Frederick would rally for its second largest inning of the year, only topped by an eight-run outburst in the eighth inning of game two of a doubleheader on April 10th. That was a part of the Keys first win of the year.
Florimon ended the night with four RBI's. Avery scored three runs. Stevens went 2-for-4 with a run scored after the critical leadoff walk in the ninth inning. Frederick ended its seven-game trip 3-4.
The Keys now head home for seven-straight at Harry Grove Stadium beginning with 50 Cent Hot Dog Night presented by Dietz and Watson Thursday evening. Myrtle Beach comes to town with the first pitch set for 7:00 p.m. Atop the hill will be RHP Oliver Drake.
