Already leading 2-0, the Grand Junction Rockies sent 10 men to plate in the fourth inning Sunday afternoon at Suplizio Field, leading to a seven run inning in a 16-3 win over the Billings Mustangs.
Bobby Stahel started the scoring in the inning with a 2-run double. After Mylz Jones walked, Daniel Suero slugged a double of his own. After a Brendan Rodgers RBI single, Collin Ferguson capped the inning with a 2-run homer.
After both teams traded zeroes for two innings, Jones scored on a wild pitch in the third to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead. Then, after Rodgers singled, Collin Ferguson doubled him home to make it a 2-run game.
Following the big fourth inning, Tyler Nevin made it 10-0 with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Billings got on the board when Mitch Piatnik homered in the in the seventh, but in the bottom of the inning, the Rockies put up four. After Suero hit another 2-run double, Rodgers hit his second home run of the season, making it 14-1 Grand Junction.
Jonathan Martijn hit a 2-run homer in the eighth, but Jonathan Piron did the same in the bottom of the inning.
Rodgers finished with 5 hits in 6 at bats. He scored 4 runs and drove home 3.
Suero added 4 hits and 4 RBI, while Stahel had a 3-hit day.
Grand Junction's 16 runs match a season high, as does its 3-game win streak.
Gavin Glanz earned his second win, tossing 5 shutout innings.
