Great Falls Voyagers News Release
GREAT FALLS, Mont. (July 12, 2015)Â - The Great Falls Voyagers tied their season-high with 17 hits as they rolled past the Ogden Raptors 11-2 Sunday afternoon at Centene Stadium.
Trailing 1-0 after a Michael Medina second-inning homer, the Voyagers (13-8) went to work against reliever Roberth Fernandez (1-3) in the fourth. Joxelier Garcia got things started for Great Falls, doubling in Ryan Jones to tie things up.
After a pair of walks loaded the bases, Johan Cruz and Antonio Rodriguez hit back-to-back RBI singles to give the Voyagers the lead. Zach Fish then brought another run home with a sacrifice fly, before Jackson Glines capped the frame with a run-scoring single of his own.
Landon Lassiter brought another run home in the fifth, as he picked up an RBI single, one of his career-high three hits on the afternoon.
The five-run cushion was plenty for Evin Einhardt (2-1), who did not allow a run outside of the Medina homer. The righty allowed just two hits in his five innings of work, and set a new career-high with five strikeouts.
Both teams traded runs in the seventh, on a pair of long balls. Scott De Jong homered for the second straight day in the top of the frame for Ogden (12-13), while Jake Jarvis answered with a solo shot of his own in the home half.
The Voyagers then put the game out of reach for good in the eighth. Great Falls loaded the bases with nobody out for Fish, who brought home his second run of the game with a single. Glines then added an RBI groundout, before a two-out two-run single by Ryan Jones finished things off.
Great Falls pounded out 17 hits on the afternoon, tying their season-high. Six Voyagers posted multi-hit games, including Rodriguez who tied his career-high with four.
The Voyagers and Raptors wrap-up their four-game set Monday night at Centene Stadium. Right-hander Matt Ball (0-2, 7.36) will be on the hill for Great Falls, while Ogden will counter with fellow righty Ivan Vieitez (0-1, 4.73). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and coverage will begin at 6:45 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
