VOYAGERS ROUTED
The Voyagers jumped out to a 3-0 lead Saturday, but two Ogden homers in the fourth gave the Raptors a lead they did not give up on their way to a series-evening 12-5 win. Nick Sell tied the game with a three-run shot in the fourth, and Scott De Jong followed with a solo shot to give Ogden the lead. The Raptors then exploded for five runs on seven hits in the sixth to put the game out of reach. The visitors added three in the ninth, including a run on an RBI triple by De Jong, which completed a cycle for the first baseman. Great Falls then picked up two in the bottom of the ninth on a two-run single by Sikes Orvis.Â
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
The Voyagers scored three unearned runs in the second last night, jumping out to an early lead for the second straight night against the Raptors. With Ogden coming back and winning however, Great Falls lost for the time this season after having scored first. Entering last night, Great Falls had been 8-0 when scoring first, including 6-0 at home. The Voyagers also dropped their first Saturday game of the year.Â
ROUGH NIGHT ON THE HILL
The Great Falls staff got a good start from left-hander Zack Erwin last night, as the Duluth, Ga., native turned in three scoreless frames. Once the bullpen took over however, things went downhill, as the relievers combined to give up all 12 runs, and 12 of the Raptors 14 hits. The 12 runs and 14 hits surrendered were both season highs for Voyagers pitchers, while the eight walks they issued also set a new high watermark for 2015. The seven hits allowed in the five-run sixth, was also the most given up in any one inning for Great Falls hurlers so far this season. The Voyager bullpen ERA now sits at 6.07 for the year.
EINHARDT ON THE BUMPÂ Â
Great Falls will turn to righty Evin Einhardt this afternoon as they continue their set against Ogden. The Battle Creek, Mich., native gave up two unearned runs in six innings to earn the win and his second quality start of the campaign earlier on this homestand against Idaho Falls. The outing against the Chukars lowered the right-hander's ERA to 3.92, which is the eighth-lowest among qualified PL starters.
