Ogden Raptors News Release
GREAT FALLS - One day after giving up season-highs in runs (12) and hits (14), Great Falls (13-8) held Ogden (12-13) to just two runs - two solo home runs - and six hits, cruising to an 11-2 win on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Medina gave the Raptors an early 1-0 lead on his solo shot to right-centerfield. Scott De Jong, who hit for the cycle on Saturday night, hit his second solo home run in as many days in the top of the seventh inning.
Making his first start of the season, Michael Boyle pitched three scoreless innings and has not allowed a run in 7 2/3 innings pitched this season. The trouble began for the Raptors in the fourth inning. After inducing a ground ball from the leadoff batter, Roberth Fernandez gave up four hits and three walks before exiting the ball game five runs later.
The Voyagers added a single run in the fifth inning and a solo home run from Jake Jarvis in the seventh inning to push the lead to five, 7-2. The first three batters all reached base in the bottom of the eighth inning and four Voyagers crossed the plate to give Great Falls an 11-2 advantage.
After allowing just ten runs in 26 2/3 innings during the first five games of the seven-game road trip, the Raptors bullpen surrendered 11 runs and 12 hits in five innings on Sunday.
Fernandez (1-3) took the loss and Evin Einhardt (2-1) earned the win. In Monday's series finale, Ivan Vieitez will start for the Raptors and face Matt Ball for the Voyagers. First pitch is 7:00pm MT.
