Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

OREM -The Owlz six-run, sixth inning was not enough to fend off the Brewers on Sunday afternoon. Starting pitcher, Grayson Long, got the nod for the Owlz, coming in with a 0.00 ERA and only allowing one hit over eight innings pitched on the season. He began the game with 1-2-3 inning the first, then ended up allowing three runs in the second, his first earned runs on the season.

The Owlz took the 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third inning as second baseman, Hutton Moyer, hit a 3-run long ball to right field. Following Moyer, David Fletcher hit a double to left field and then scored on Jeff Boehm's single. The lead for Orem would not last long as the Brewers scored eight runs in the following inning.

Entering the sixth inning and trailing by a score of 11-4, the Owlz cut the deficit after scoring six runs, two of which came courtesy of an Alex Abbott 2-run bomb to right field. Designated hitter, Sam Koenig, also scored a run after reaching on a single, his third hit on the night. Koenig had his first hit of his minor league career and went 3-3 on the evening after reaching base in all four plate appearances.

However, after a great sixth inning, Orem's bullpen struggled to hold onto the one-run deficit as the Brewers secured the lead with three more insurance runs in the final two innings.

The final game of this three-game series will be held tomorrow night at 7:15 P.M.
