
Seven of Nine Draft Picks in Als' Camp

Montreal, May 21, 2003 - A day before rookie camp kicks off, the Montreal Alouettes are thrilled to announce that seven of the nine draft picks in the Canadian College Draft have signed contracts with the Alouettes for two years plus an option.
"This is great for our rookie camp," said General Manager Jim Popp. "All of our draft picks are talented football players and we're looking forward to see what they can offer us in the next few weeks."
Wide receiver Andrew Noel (1st round, 9th pick overall), cornerback Richard Karikari (2nd round, 14th pick overall), guard Paul Archer (4th round, 36th pick overall), quarterback Mathieu Bertrand (5th round, 45th pick overall), receiver/kicker Dave Stala (6th round, 51st pick overall), linebacker Michael Botterill (6th round, 52nd pick overall) and kicker Ed Becker (6th round, 54th pick overall) will be undertaking their medicals today and will be on the practice field tomorrow. Players will be available for interviews on the training camp site at 3:30 p.m. today.
The only two players who have not signed contracts are running back Kerry Carter who is currently under contract with the Seattle Seahawks and slotback Matt Brandt who still has a year of eligibility in college (Miami of Ohio).
