Sestito Signs and Szwez Released

HERSHEY, PA – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have signed center / left wing Tim Sestito to an amateur contract and released right wing Jeff Szwez from a professional tryout contract. Sestito will wear uniform number 23 when the Sound Tigers finish a three-game road trip versus the Hershey Bears at 7 p.m. tonight.

Sestito, 20, joins the Sound Tigers from the Ontario Hockey League's Plymouth Whalers for whom he posted careers highs of 14 goals, 18 assists, 32 points and 93 penalty minutes in 67 games this season. The 6'0'' 195-pounder from Rome, New York had career totals of 45 goals, 56 assists, 101 points and 250 penalty minutes in 236 games in four years, 2001-05, with Plymouth.

Szwez, 23, signed a PTO with the Sound Tigers on March 22nd and appeared in three games with the team. He joined the Sound Tigers after posting eight goals, five assists, 13 points and 20 penalty minutes in 18 games with the ECHL's Dayton Bombers , as well as 16 goals, 12 assists, 28 points and 53 penalty minutes in 41 games with the ECHL's Pee Dee Pride this season.

After tonight's road trip finale in Hershey, the Sound Tigers will return to Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard to host the Binghamton Senators tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. Both games will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com with tonight's game also airing live on 600 WICC-AM.
