Bears drop tough one in Philly 4-3

HERSHEY loses 4-3 at the Spectrum, but Wilkes-Barre/Scranton loses 2-1 at Albany to keep the BEARS four points back in the East Division race for the final playoff spot.

Philadelphia opened the scoring when Patrick Sharp tipped a Joni Pitkanen shot past Tom Lawson at the 1:38 mark of the first period. Eric Perrin then tied up the game for HERSHEY at the 5:09 mark with his 23rd goal of the season. With the game knotted at one, Dennis Seidenberg scored his 11th goal of the year at the 13:29 mark of the first. Philly led after one period 2-1.

In the second period, Mathieu Darche scored his team leading 26th goal of the season at the 41 second mark. Darche's goal tied the game at two, and the score remained tied until Philadelphia scored two quick goals at the end of the period. Tony Voce scored his 20th of the year at the 17:55 mark, followed up by Boyd Kane's ninth of the year at the 18:53 mark The BEARS were outshot 11-4 in the second and trailed 4-2 after two. Martin Hlinka scored the lone goal of the third period to pull HERSHEY within one, but the BEARS would get no closer.
