
Bruins reel off fifth straight win

The Providence Bruins and Lowell Lock Monsters played the ninth game of their 10-game season series on Saturday night at Tsongas Arena, with the Bruins taking a 3-1 decision. Providence, which extended its season-high winning streak to five games, is 6-1-0-2 against Lowell this season. The win improved the Bruins' record to 37-26-3-7 (84 points) on the season, putting the team in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
Bruin left wing and former Lock Monster Tomas Kurka tallied his fifth goal of the season, while fellow left wing and co-captain Jay Henderson notched the game-winner on his eighth goal of the year. Henderson has points (3-2-5) in four of his last five games. Andy Hilbert sealed the win with his 36th goal of the season, an empty net goal with 30 seconds remaining in regulation.
Providence goaltender Hannu Toivonen was named the game's First Star for the second time in as many nights, stopping 38 of the 39 shots he faced. Toivonen has won five straight decisions, and is 26-15-3 on the season.
The Bruins conclude their busy week on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m., when they host the Manchester Monarchs at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence.
