Harrisburg Senators News Release

Travis Snider hit a two-out, walkoff home run in the bottom of the eleventh inning, and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Harrisburg Senators at Merchantsauto.com Stadium in Manchester, 1-0. The extra-innings victory gave the Fisher Cats (62-43) a three-game sweep over the Sens, and sent the Senators back below .500 at 52-53.

Snider's solo shot came off of Rafael Martin, who had retired the first five batters he faced in the tenth and eleventh in order. He took the loss, to drop to 1-2. Brad Peacock had been dazzling in his AA debut for the Senators, starting the game and pitching seven scoreless innings before yielding to the bullpen. He gave up just two hits and struck out five, but had to settle for a no-decision. Similarly, Zach Stewart of New Hampshire pitched seven shutout innings of his own, but took the no decision. Vince Bongiovanni pitched the final four innings in relief, and earned the win to improve to 6-3.

The Senators outhit New Hampshire 7-4 in the ballgame, and left nine men on base. In the eighth inning, Marvin Lowrance and Danny Espinosa were on second and third base, respectively, with just one out. But Bongiovanni retired Jesus Valdez and Tim Pahuta, and stranded two runners in scoring position. Lowrance and Adam Fox each had two hits for the Sens, and Espinosa, Valdez, and Pahuta each added one. Lowrance also walked twice, reaching base four of the five times he came to the plate.

Now below .500, the Senators return home on Thursday evening, to begin a four-game weekend series with the Portland Sea Dogs. The Sens won a four-game series at Portland (51-52) last weekend. Right-hander Andrew Kown (5-4, 3.89) starts on the mound for the Sens on Thursday, against RHP Kyle Weiland (5-5, 3.82). Kown outdueled Weiland last Saturday at Hadlock Field in Portland, and the Sens beat the Sea Dogs 2-1. Radio coverage for Thursday night's game begins at 6:45, on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
