New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

(Manchester, NH)---Travis Snider hit a walk-off home run with two outs in the 11th inning to break a scoreless tie, and give the Fisher Cats a 1-0 win over the Harrisburg Senators in front of 7,598 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

Snider, who has been with the Fisher Cats since July 6, has been working his way back into shape after spending more than a month on the disabled list with a sprained wrist. His home run was his fifth for New Hampshire.

With the win, the Fisher Cats (62-43) complete a three-game sweep and remain one-and-a-half games behind first place Trenton with the division leaders set to meet in a four game series starting tomorrow in New Jersey.

Zach Stewart and Vince Bongiovanni combined on the seven-hit shutout. Rafael Martin (3-2) took the loss for Harrisburg (52-53).

Stewart continued the trend left by the Fisher Cats rotation during this three-game set. New Hampshire starters shutout the Senators in all 19 innings they pitched in this series, allowing just eight hits. Stewart came up with the big pitch when he needed it, holding Harrisburg to an 0-for-6 clip with runners in scoring position. He finished after seven innings, allowing four hits while striking out six and walking two.

Bongiovanni (6-3) worked four scoreless innings in relief, allowing three hits, including two in the top of the 11th. But he struck out Edgardo Baez to end the Senators threat.

Harrisburg starter Brad Peacock matched Stewart pitch for pitch. The Fisher Cats were held hitless through 4.2 innings by Peacock, who was making his Eastern League debut after posting a 4-9 record with a 4.44 ERA with Advanced-A Potomac. It wasn't until Jonathan Jaspe laced a liner up the middle with one out in the fifth that New Hampshire recorded their first base knock.

The Fisher Cats reached third base for the first time in the bottom of the seventh, but Eric Thames got picked off by the catcher after reaching on a double, which got lost in the sun. Peacock finished his outing after seven innings, relinquishing just two hits while striking out five and walking three.

The Fisher Cats had another opportunity to score in the eighth when the bases were loaded with two outs, but the Senators got out of the jam on a strikeout. Adeiny Hechavarria, who reached on a walk, went 0 for 3 on the day, snapping his hit streak at 12 games.

New Hampshire will now travel to Trenton for a four game series to take on the Thunder. On Thursday, Fisher Cats starter Randy Boone (2-6, 3.99) will be matched up against the Thunder's right-hander Lance Pendleton (9-4, 3.49). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 6:45 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.

The Fisher Cats return to Manchester to host the only two teams that have yet to make an appearance at Merchantsauto.com Stadium this season in Richmond and Bowie. Each will play a three game series against New Hampshire from August 3-8. For ticket information, visit www.nhfishercats.com or call (603) 641-2005.
