ERIE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve scored six runs through the first three innings and made it stick as they defeated the Erie SeaWolves, 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game series at Jerry Uht Park. With the win, Altoona secured its first series victory since sweeping the Portland Sea Dogs at Blair County Ballpark from June 22-24.

After being held off the scoreboard for 13 innings on Tuesday night, the Curve did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard on Wednesday. Chase d'Arnaud singled to start the game and proceeded to steal second base with Anthony Norman at the plate. After Norman struck out, d'Arnaud swiped third ahead of a Jordy Mercer sacrifice fly that brought him in to give Altoona the, 1-0, lead.

Matt Hague followed Mercer's sacrifice fly with his 12th home run of the season, a solo shot to left field, and the Curve led, 2-0. The inning continued when Hector Gimenez walked and then Miles Durham went deep for his seventh home run of the campaign. After half an inning, the Curve led, 4-0.

Erie cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first off starter Justin Wilson (8-6) when they mounted a rally with two down. Cale Iorg, who homered to win the game Tuesday night for Erie, was hit by a pitch and Rawley Bishop walked to place two men on the bases. Billy Nowlin came up and hit a ball to third that Jose de los Santos errantly threw away, which allowed both runners to score and make the game, 4-2.

The 'Wolves added one more in the second with another two-out, run-scoring rally but would pull no closer as Altoona tacked on two in the top of the third. Hague led off the frame with a double and Gimenez singled to place runners at first and third with no one out. After Gimenez stole second, Durham hit a sacrifice fly to bring in his third run of the game to restore Altoona's lead to two. Brandon Jones' one-out double brought Gimenez around and placed the Curve in front, 6-3.

That would cap the scoring in the game as Wilson did not allow a run the final four innings he pitched and went six total innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits with four strikeouts. Tom Boleska earned his first save in Double-A with three innings of shutout relief. Boleska faced one over the minimum in his three innings and struck out three batters.

Hague and d'Arnaud were the only members of the Curve lineup to record multi hit games as Hague finished 2-for-5 while d'Arnaud was 3-for-4.

Altoona (60-43) travels to The Diamond in Richmond, Va. at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday night to open up a four-game series with the Flying Squirrels. LHP Rudy Owens (8-5, 2.92) will start in game one for the Curve while Richmond sends RHP Felix Romero (2-1, 3.67) to the mound.

Pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on flagship ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
