Senators Win a Wild One

Matt Skole scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the tenth inning to push Harrisburg to a 4-3 victory in 10 innings over the Bowie Baysox on Monday night.
Jason Martinson extended his season-long hitting streak to 10 games with a line drive single to right field in the second inning. Martinson would then reach again in the fourth inning on a fielding error with two outs. Drew Vettleson made the Baysox pay for their miscue as he followed with a two-run home run, his fourth dinger of the season, to tie the ball game at 2-2.
Paolo Espino turned in his best outing of the year a day after the Harrisburg bullpen had to throw 9.1 innings in a 15-inning loss to Richmond. The righty allowed a two-run home run in the first inning to Chris Marrero, but was spectacular from there on. Espino surrendered just four hits and three walks in a Senators season-high 7.2 innings of work, but left with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth. Reliever Chris Manno, pitching for a second consecutive day, came on and struck out Bowie's K.D. Kang to end the inning.
In the ninth, it was Ricky Hague who reached on a single. Hague then stole second base, and with two outs, Lozada came through with the go-ahead single into left field. However, in the bottom half of the ninth, Manno allowed a two-out walk and then comitted a throwing error that led to pinch-runner Sharlon Schoop scoring from first to tie the game. The Senators took the lead right back in the tenth as Skole and Martinson both singled to place runners on first and third with two outs for Drew Vettleson. Instead of Vettleson's bat, a wild pitch from Bowie's Julio DePaula that scored Skole from third, allowing Harrisburg to retake the lead. This time the Senators held on as Bryan Harper pitched a scoreless tenth for his first save of the season.
Tomorrow night the Senators and Baysox will get started once again at 6:35 p.m. Harrisburg's Brian Dupra will face off against Bowie's Eduardo Rodriguez.
