PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of July 14th through July 20th:

Erie SeaWolves second baseman Devon Travis has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of July 14th-July 20th. The 23-year old hit .435 (10-for-23) with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI, four runs scored, one stolen base, two walks and a .783 slugging percentage in six games for the SeaWolves last week. Travis, who is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, had at least one hit in all six games he played in last week and drove in or scored at least one run in four of those games, including capping off his week by going 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in a 5-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. The 5'9", 195 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in total bases (18) last week and tied for the lead in hits (10) and extra-base hits (4). He also ranked among the leaders in OPS (1.263-2nd), home runs (2-tied 2nd), slugging percentage (.783-4th), RBI (5-tied 4th), runs scored (4-tied 5th), batting average (.435-tied 9th), stolen bases (1-tied 9th) and doubles (2-tied 10th). Devon, who is hitting .299 with six home runs, 43 runs scored and 29 RBI over 61 games in his Double-A debut for the SeaWolves this season, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round of the 2012 draft after hitting .325 as a junior at Florida State.

Adrian Sampson, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Altoona Curve, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 14th-July 20th. The 6'3", 200 lb. hurler started one game for the Curve last week and had a record of 1-0 with two strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Sampson, who is a native of Redmond, Washington, made his lone start of the week on Friday night against the visiting Bowie Baysox and took a no-hitter into the ninth inning of Altoona's 3-0 victory. The no-hitter was broken up on a double by Mike Yastrzemski with one out in the top of the ninth. Sampson, who finished the game with two strikeouts and one walk, retired the next two batters to finish off the first nine inning shutout by an Altoona pitcher since the 2009 season. With his performance Sampson lowered his ERA to 2.58, which ranks third in the league. The 22-year old was the only Eastern League pitcher to throw a complete game shutout last week and led all Eastern League pitchers in WHIP (0.22), tied for the lead in ERA (0.00), and ranked second in batting average against (.034). Adrian, who was named to the Western Division roster for the Eastern League All-Star Game, was selected by Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth round of the 2012 draft out of Bellevue CC in Washington.
