Harrisburg Senators News Release
On a gorgeous Thursday evening in Harrisburg, the Senators returned home from their first road trip of the season and defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8-4.
Starting pitcher Marco Estrada allowed four runs in the second inning, but he settled down after that and went five innings before turning things over to the bullpen.
The Senators offense took a little time to get untracked, but once it did, it erupted. After their were two outs and no one on in the fourth they scored two runs on rbi singles by Luke Montz and William Bergolla. In the fifth, again it was a two-out no one on run with Justin Maxwell singling in Roger Bernadina to close the score to 4-3. In the sixth, the Senators loaded the bases with two-outs and Bernadina coming to the plate. Bernadina moved ahead of the count 2-0 against reliever Kyle Yates and then deposited a long drive over the fence in deep right center field for a grand slam, giving the Sens a 7-4 lead. It was Bernadina's first home run of the season and the first grand slam by the Sens this season.
In the seventh, Montz scored on an error after reaching on a double. Mike Hinckley pitched 2.2 innings for the win and Beltran Perez got the final four outs for his first save of the season. Friday night is game two of the four game series with RH Ismael Ramirez on the mound for Harrisburg against RH Jean Machi for New Hampshire. With the win, the Sens are now 9-5 and remain in first place in the southern division of the Eastern League.
