Akron scored early and often in beating the Senators 11-2 Thursday night in Akron. Akron scored a pair in the first, the Senators then came back with a run in the second but that was as close as they'd get Thursday. Akron broke the game open with four runs in the fifth inning.

ON CAPITAL HILL

Tim Cate started and pitched 2.2 innings, with the Senators limiting his pitch count. He allowed two runs on four hits. Carlos Navas faced two batters to finish the third inning and allowed a home run. Mario Sanchez went 2.0 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits. Ryan Tapani followed and went 2.0 innings allowing two runs on three hits. Reid Schaller pitched the eighth inning and a run on two hits.

WITH THE GAVEL

Jake Alu homered and singled for two of the Sens three hits.

FILIBUSTERS

The Senators had their season high four-game winning streak snapped with the loss. Akron had 18 hits which is the most the Senators have allowed this season.
