Altoona, Penn. - The Somerset Patriots (54-38) were shut out Thursday night for only the fifth time this season in a 5-0 loss to the Altoona Curve (49-42) at People's Natural Gas Field.

Curve starting pitcher Trey McGough (W, 4-3) tossed seven shutout innings and allowed just four hits. Reliever Cam Alldred walked five over the final two frames but held the Patriots off the board to preserve the shutout.

Somerset mustered four hits in the contest, led by a 2-for-2 performance with a pair of walks from Oswald Peraza and a 2-for-3 game from Jesus Bastidas.

Altoona took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a Ji-Hwan Bae two-out RBI single. Cam Mitchell (12) added a two-run home run in the fourth to extend the lead. Two more runs came home for the Curve in the fifth on a Matt Fraizer RBI double and a Bae sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.

Luis Medina (L, 3-3) allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits, no walks and four strikeouts to take the loss.

The Patriots and Curve continue their six-game series Friday night. Right-handed pitcher Jhony Brito (2-1, 1.89 ERA) takes the mound for Somerset against Altoona righty Osvaldo Bido (2-5, 5.20 ERA). First pitch at People's Natural Gas Field is set for 7:00 p.m.
