The Akron RubberDucks for one night only donned their Akron Aeros attire and used an offensive outburst to beat the Harrisburg Senators, 11-2, on Thursday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
In the bottom of the first inning, Aeros right fielder Will Brennan launched the second pitch he saw 405 feet over the wall in right center to make it 1-0 Akron. Later in the inning, Chris Roller singled up the middle to score Bryan Lavastida for a 2-0 lead.
Mound Presence
Logan Allen struck out two batters in each of the first three innings while allowing just one hit - a solo home run by Jake Alu. Allen matched a season long of 6 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs while striking out eight. Nic Enright followed with 1 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out one. Nick Mikolajchak struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning.
Duck Tales
Lavastida added to the lead in the bottom of the third, launching a homer 363 feet to right field, into the Bud Light Lime Tiki Terrace to make it 3-1. Akron broke the game open in the fifth, when Jonathan Engelmann hit a two-out RBI single, Bo Naylor hit two-run double, and José Fermín hit an RBI double. The Aeros added a run in the sixth when Brayan Rocchio singled home Brennan. In the seventh, Fermín added another RBI double, and Brennan hit an RBI single to make it 10-2. Late-inning substitution Clark Scolamiero hit an RBI double to score Steven Kwan to make it 11-2.
