Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators dug themselves an early hole, trailing 3-0 to the Erie SeaWolves after three innings. But the Senators pitching staff halted the Erie offense while the Harrisburg hitters continued their scorching start to roll to a 12-3 win. The story once again for the Senators was the bats. The offense was held scoreless through the first three innings, but a three-run homer by Yurendell De Caster tied the game in the fourth. Ian Desmond drilled a solo shot in the fifth to make it a 4-3 Harrisburg lead.

The Senators sent 12 batters to the plate in an eight-run seventh. Six straight Senators reached in a scoring barrage. Jorge Padilla drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 5-3, Luis Jimenez bounced a two-run single to left to extend the lead to 7-3 and De Caster slugged a two-run double into the gap in left-center. Then, Ian Desmond and Roger Bernadina hit back-to-back doubles to finish the rally and make it 12-3.

Harrisburg starter Marco Estrada picked up the win despite allowing three runs in the top of the third inning. He shut down the SeaWolves after the big frame and went five innings to move to 1-0. De Caster went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs. He has nine RBIs in the last two games. The Senators improve to 3-1 with the win. They handed Erie its first loss of the season as the SeaWolves fell to 4-1.
