The Harrisburg Mayflies jumped out to a 6-1 lead Friday night then hung on to beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-5. Jacob Young blasted his first Senators home run, a two-run shot in the third, to give the Sens a 2-0 lead. They eventually took a 6-1 lead with three runs in the sixth inning, but Richmond wouldn't go away quietly. A pair of two-run home runs in the eighth inning by the Flying Squirrels made it a one-run game. Richmond put a runner on in the ninth with one out but couldn't push across the tying run.

The Big Play

With the Senators leading 4-1 and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Trey Lipscomb singled in two runs on an 0-2 pitch. The runs became the difference in the game when Richmond tallied four in the eighth inning.

On Capitol Hill

Six different hurlers took the mound for Harrisburg Friday night led by Alex Troop. Troop went 4.2 innings and allowed an unearned run on four hits... Malvin Pena came on and finished the fifth inning by picking off Brandon Martorano at first base... Lucas Knowles was next, going two scoreless innings and earning the win... Tyler Beck allowed three runs in one-third of an inning... Jack Sinclair allowed a run in two-thirds of an inning... Tyler Schoff pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save with the Senators.

With the Gavel

Jacob Young hit his first Sens home run, driving in two runs... Frankie Tostado went 3-for-5 with two RBIs... Onix Vega had a hit and scored twice.

Filibusters

Harrisburg went 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position... The time of the game was 2:57 and there was a 49-minute rain delay... The attendance was 5,234.

The Senators and Richmond Flying Squirrels play game two of their three-game series Saturday at 6:00 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Stations 96.5 FM, 95.3 FM, and 1400 AM beginning at 5:45 p.m.
