Harrisburg Senators News Release

RHP Jordan Zimmermann, one of the top prospects in the Washington Nationals organization, is headed to Harrisburg. Zimmermann, a starting pitcher in his first full professional season, was promoted from Potomac today. He fills the spot vacated by RHP Jim Ed Warden, who was transferred to Triple-A Columbus.

Zimmermann, 21, was the Nationals' second-round draft pick last June. Selected out of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, an NCAA Division-III school, he has been dominant during his short professional career.

Last year at short-season Vermont, Zimmermann went 5-2 with a 2.38 ERA and struck out 71 in 53 innings pitched. He made the jump to Advanced-A Potomac this season and didn't miss a beat, going 3-1 with a save and a 1.65 ERA. In 27.1 innings, Zimmermann struck out 31 and walked just eight.

Zimmermann was rated the 7th-best prospect in the Nationals' organization by Baseball America prior to the season. He becomes the highest-rated prospect on the Senators' roster. OF Justin Maxwell is ranked 9th in the Washington system.

Warden, 28, was a shutdown reliever for Harrisburg. He went 2-1 with two saves and a 1.29 ERA before his promotion to Columbus.
