Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
There's no secret that the Hudson Valley Renegades had the Wilmington Blue Rocks number for the better part of the week. They had come back to win from an 8-3 deficit twice and had won every game in the series. There was no difference on Saturday night when the Renegades battled all the way back to win 8-4 in a nail-biting affair.
The Renegades took a two-run lead in the bottom of the 4th when Chad Bell's RBI single scored Elijah Dunham.
The Blue Rocks seemingly had enough though, and they rallied back in the top of the 5th to tie the game and then take the lead, 4-2. Jhony Brito was pulled after 4.2 innings after giving up seven hits, four earned runs, and striking out six.
Elvis Peguero came on in relief and was able to hold the eager Blue Rocks offense to just one hit in his 2.1 innings of service.
The Rallying Renegades made it interesting in the bottom of the 7th when they cut the deficit in half on of a Josh Breaux RBI single to right field. Anthony Seigler, who has been this week's hero for the 'Gades, grounded into a double play to end the rally.
In the bottom of the 8th, Elijah Dunham broke out of his slump and hit the game-tying home run to knot the game up at four.
Nick Ernst threw two innings of hitless baseball, walking two and striking out four.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, Josh Smith got it going with a lead-off triple. The Blue Rocks then walked the next two batters intentionally to create a force out at home.
Up stepped Anthony Seigler, who killed the rally a few innings earlier. All Seigler needed was a hit, but he decided he needed something a little tastier, and he hit a walk-off grand slam to extend the Renegades win streak to eight.
The Renegades will face off in a series finale tomorrow at 4:35 and look for their first series sweep of the season.
Per the State of New York, the Renegades are now open at 100% capacity. Tickets continue to be a tremendous value starting as low as $6. Visit HVRenegades.com for ticket information and so much more.
