
Second Rounder Johnson Joins Intimidators, to Start Tonight

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 2, 2012) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have received Erik Johnson, the White Sox second round pick (80th overall) from the June 2011 First Year Player Draft, from Extended Spring Training. Johnson will make his season debut today as the Intimidators starting pitcher against the Lakewood BlueClaws at 7:05 p.m. at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
Johnson, 22, attended the University of California at Berkeley, where he went 7-4 with a 2.83 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 105 innings in 18 starts as a junior, helping to lead the Bears to a berth in the 2011 College World Series. The Northern California native was a three-time all-state selection at Los Altos (Calif.) High School, where he graduated in 2008.
The Intimidators roster now features the top three picks in the White Sox 2011 draft as the second rounder Johnson joins Chicago's supplemental first round selection, outfielder Keenyn Walker (47th overall), as well as third round selection pitcher Jeff Soptic.
