SeaWolves Walk off on Curve in 11 Innings

Dane Myers had a walk-off sac fly to send the Erie SeaWolves to a 6-5 win over the Altoona Curve in 11 innings at UPMC Park on Sunday. It was the SeaWolves' 11th walk-off victory of the year.

Andrew Navigato was issued a one-out walk by Aaron Shortridge in the first. Parker Meadows singled Navigato to third. Quincy Nieporte poked an RBI single to left to give the SeaWolves a 1-0 lead.

Shortridge, starting for the second time in the six-game series against Erie, went three innings for the no-decision. He allowed one run on four hits, walking two, and striking out one.

Altoona began to work longer at-bats in the fifth inning and got on the board in the sixth. Fabricio Macias was hit by a pitch after an eight-pitch battle. Three batters later, Liover Peguero launched a two-run blast to pull Altoona ahead, 2-1.

The SeaWolves retaliated in the bottom of the sixth. Luis Garcia worked a one-out walk against Omar Cruz. Bryant Packard ripped an RBI double to left-center to tie the game. Packard advanced to third on a flyout from Navigato. Packard came around to score after Meadows reached on an error from Nick Gonzales to put Erie back on top, 3-2.

Kirby received the no-decision and turned in his team-leading eighth quality start. He hurled six innings, giving up two runs on one hit, walking two, and striking out seven.

The Curve responded in the seventh. Aaron Shackelford was issued a free pass by Adam Wolf. Henry Davis drove in Shackelford with a double to knot the game at 3-3.

Elvis Alvarado went out for the 10th inning. Davis moved to third on a passed ball from Michael De La Cruz and scored on a sac fly from Lolo Sanchez to pull the Curve ahead, 4-3.

The SeaWolves rallied in the bottom of the 10th. Gage Workman singled off of Colin Selby to move Myers to third. De La Cruz was intentionally walked. Daniel Cabrera capitalized with a sac fly to knot the game at 4-4.

Altoona took the lead in the 11th. Peguero went to third on a groundout from Gonzales. Matt Gorski reached on an error from Workman and Peguero scored to make it a 5-4 ballgame.

Navigato began the bottom of the 11th with a single back to Brad Case, moving Packard to third. Meadows walked to load the bases. Nieporte reached on the second error from Gonzales as Packard scored. Myers lifted a sac fly to bring in Navigato to give Erie a 6-5 walk-off victory.

Chentouf (5-2) earned the win. He allowed an unearned run in an inning of work.

Case (1-3) was tagged with the loss. He yielded two runs, one earned in a third of an inning, giving up a hit and walking one.
