ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION... Tonight, the SeaWolves look to rebound after their five-game winning streak was snapped on Friday night as they take on the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets) in the third game of a four-game series at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets took down Erie 8-7 in the second game of the series last night, ending the ‘Wolves second-longest winning streak of the season. The loss marked the fourth unsuccessful attempt to move to a season-high 12 games over .500...With the loss, Erie is 14-7 in 21 games against Northern Division opponents. Erie will play 41 games against the EL North this season...Friday night's loss, coupled with an Akron win, dropped the Howlers to 5.5 games behind the first place Aeros. Akron snapped a season-high six-game losing streak last night with a 6-4 win over Bowie. The ‘Wolves remain a half game behind the two second place teams in the EL South, Bowie and Reading, who both lost last night...Santo De Leon, who has homered in two straight games, is the hottest SeaWolf at the plate over the last 10 games. He is hitting .371 (13x35) with two homers and nine RBI over that span. Casper Wells is hitting .355 (11x31) with two home runs and seven RBI over his last 10 games...Righty Jonah Nickerson makes his 19th appearance and 18th start of the season tonight. Nickerson has won three straight starts and is coming off of one of his best starts of the season against Akron. In that game, he allowed two runs on five hits in 7.1 innings (Season-high). He walked two while equaling a season-high with six strikeouts. Nickerson has not thrown fewer than 5.1 innings since returning to the starting rotation on May 30.

TODAY'S NOTABLES:

- Erie leads the season series over Binghamton 3-2. The SeaWolves and Mets meet 10 times in 2009. It is the most times Erie will face an opponent from the Northern Division.

- Erie's pitching staff is sixth in the league with a 3.87 team ERA. Binghamton's pitching staff ranks last in the league with a 5.09 team ERA.

- Erie is fourth in the league with a .267 team batting average. Binghamton is tied for second in the league with a .272 team batting average.

- The SeaWolves lead the league with 104 home runs and 476 runs scored.

- Brennan Boesch is tied for second in the league with 17 home runs and is third with 40 extra-base hits.

- The ‘Wolves have turned 98 double plays which is tied for third-most in the EL.

- Erie pitchers have walked 277 hitters this season which is the third-fewest walks allowed by a team in the league. Erie is averaging 3.01 walks allowed per game. Erie is one of three teams to allow fewer than 300 walks on the season.

- The SeaWolves hitters have struck out 753 times, the most in the Eastern League. As a team, Erie is averaging 8.18 strikeouts per game.

- Ryan Strieby is tied for second in the league with 17 home runs, is tied for seventh in the league with a .310 batting average, is second with a .427 on-base percentage and a .570 slugging percentage. Strieby has not played since July 11 with left wrist soreness.
