(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that OF James Cooper has been activated from the DL, and INF Jorge Vazquez has been placed on the DL retroactive to July 17.

In 57 games for the Thunder this season, Vazquez has posted a .329 batting average, with a team-leading 13 home runs, and 56 RBI. This is his second stint on the disabled list this season. He was placed on the DL from 6/1-6/21. The native of Culiacan, Mexico previously spent 10 seasons in the Mexican League. He had a .321 career batting average in 627 games in the Mexican League with 151 home runs and 491 RBI. Vazquez was signed by the Yankees as a free agent on December 7, 2008.

Cooper was placed on the DL back on June 10th. The outfielder has appeared in 38 games and has a .259 BA with one HR and 20 RBI this season for Trenton. In 2008, he split the season between Trenton and Tampa (High-A). He started the season with Tampa and batted .311 with one HR and 22 RBI in 66 games. For Trenton, he appeared in 52 games and batted .232 with 17 RBI. Cooper was selected by the Yankees in 9th round of the 2005 Draft out of Loyola Marymount University. Trenton and Portland continue a four-game series tonight from Waterfront Park. RHP Kanekoa Texeira (7-5, 2.92) will start for Trenton against Portland RHP Jarod Plummer (7-4, 3.76). Game time is set for 7:05 pm.
