Senators Game Notes for July 18

July 18, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg Senators (39-52) at Altoona Curve (34-59)

Tonight's Game... Tonight is game three of the Sens four-game series in Altoona. This is the only time the Sens will be in Altoona this season. With their loss last night the Curve are now 25 games under .500, a franchise record low.

Last Time Out... On Friday night in Altoona the Senators bats came to life to the tune of nine runs in defeating the Curve 9-3. Ten different Sens had hits in the game, including three from Freddie Bynum. The Sens pounded out 15 hits in the game, scoring runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to cruise home. Joel Guzman homered in the fourth and then with two outs starting pitcher Cory VanAllen drove in the second run of the game with a single. After scoring a run in the fifth, the Sens broke the game open with five runs in the sixth inning. It was a very long inning due to the Sens sending 11 batters to the plate and enduring a 49-minute rain delay. VanAllen started for the Sens and wasn't able to get out of the fifth inning so the win went to Clint Everts who moved to 1-1 with the Sens. Dmitri Young had a couple of doubles and Guzman, with the home run, extended his hitting streak to seven games, his second seven game hitting streak this season.

Avoiding Akron, Altoona and Bowie... The Sens are 39-52 overall and just 5-22 against Akron, Altoona and Bowie. The Sens have finished their season series with Akron. They are 34-30 against the rest of the Eastern League this season.
