SeaWolves Clobber Mets 11-4

The SeaWolves snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium as they clobbered the Binghamton Mets 11-4.

The Mets struck for a run in the bottom of the second against Erie starter Victor Larez. With one out, Blake Forsythe doubled and moved to third on an error. Francisco Pena doubled home Forsythe for a 1-0 Mets lead.

Mets starter Rafel Montero was in control until the fourth inning when the SeaWolves started to light up the scoreboard. Hernan Perez led off with a doubled and moved to third on a Ramon Cabrera knock. Tyler Collins doubled home Perez, tying the game at 1-1. James McCann followed with an RBI single, scoring Cabrera for a 2- 1 Erie lead. James Robbins followed and grounded to second where Josh Rodriguez booted the ball, allowing Collins to score for a 3-1 edge. With two outs, Marcus Lemon belted a two-run triple for a 5-1 'Wolves lead.

In the fifth, Erie extended the lead when Collins blasted a solo home run, his third, to right for a 6-1 advantage. Erie has now homered in three straight games for the first time this season.

The SeaWolves continued to pound out runs in the seventh. Lemon led off with a single, his second of three hits, Daniel Fields walked and Perez singled to load the bases. Cabrera laced a single to right, plating a pair. On the play, Cesar Puello booted the ball in right allowing Perez to score and move Cabrera into scoring position. With two outs, Robbins capped off a four-run inning with a base hit to center, scoring Cabrera for a 10-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Mets cut the Erie lead down to seven. Pena led off with a double, moved to third on groundout and scored on a Joe Bonfe groundout making it 10-2. Alonzo Harris homered to left making it 10-3.

The 'Wolves added a run in the eighth. Jamie Johnson singled to star the inning and he scored on a two-out Cabrera knock for an 11-3 lead.

Binghamton plated one in the eighth off of reliever Tyler Clark who tossed the final two innings, preserving the Erie win.

Larez (4-0) has now won four straight starts for the SeaWolves. He allowed three runs on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts in a season-high seven innings of work.

The SeaWolves go for the series split on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium at 6:35 p.m. LHP Kyle Lobstein (2-2, 3.56 ERA) goes for his second consecutive win against RHP Logan Verrett (4-0, 2.48 ERA).
