Everett Silvertips News Release
Kent, WA - Shane Harper had 2 goals and Thomas Heemskerk made 32 saves but the Everett Silvertips were unable to fight from behind and ultimately fell at Seattle's brand new ShoWare Center, 4-3. Dale Hunt added to the offense tonight grabbing his second goal of the season. Tonight's loss brings the season series between the Silvertips and Thunderbirds even at two wins and two losses a piece.
This brings the 'Tips record to 17-16-5-0 with 39 points in 38 games played standing eight points behind second place Spokane Chiefs in the U.S. Division. The Silvertips are now 3-5-2-0 in their last 10 games.
Dustin Silvester scored the arena's first ever goal at 7:23 of the 2nd period after a scoreless first in which Everett controlled much of the play, but were unable to beat a red hot Jacob De Seeres. Jeremy Boyer made it a 2-0 game on the power play by deflecting a Greg Scott slap shot past Heemskerk at 9:33 of the 2nd period. Seattle would extend their lead to 3-0 early on in the 3rd period when Scott beat Heemskerk up high with a hard wrist shot. Seattle made in a 4-0 nothing game when Sena Acolatse poked a loose puck into the net after a scrum.
Everett then made a furious comeback over the game's final five minutes. On a 5 on 3 power play Hunt jammed a loose puck past De Seeres on a massive scramble in front. Harper made it a 4-2 game by taking a terrific Tyler Maxwell feed and one timing it past De Seeres at 17:56. Harper then lifted a rebound past De Seeres with Heemskerk pulled and just 36 seconds left in the game. Everett had several oppertunites in the game's final moments but De Serres rebut them all on way to earning the games first star.
