Ross Seaton pitched the South Atlantic League's first nine-inning shutout of the 2009 season as the Lexington Legends defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 5-0 at Applebee's Park Monday night.

Seaton allowed three hits, struck out six and walked no one in earning his sixth victory against four losses.

The Legends gave Seaton a lead in the bottom of the first inning. Eric Suttle, just added to the roster Monday afternoon, walked with one out. After Steve Brown reached on an error, Brian Pellegrini hit his fourth home run over the bleachers in left field to put the Legends in front 3-0.

The Legends added another run in the fourth. With the bases loaded, Brandon Barnes grounded into a force play at the plate. Catcher Matt Klimas tried to complete a double play by throwing to first, but his throw went in to right field for an error, and Steve Brown came home from second.

Lexington scored its final run in the sixth when Andy Simunic was hit by a pitch, went to second on an infield out and scored on a single by Ronnie Ramirez.

Ehire Adrianza's fifth-inning double was the only extra-base hit allowed by Seaton, whose longest previous outing was seven innings. Adrianza was the only Augusta runner to get as far as second base.

Augusta's Kyle Nicholson pitched a seven-inning shutout in the first game of a doubleheader at Asheville May 18. Games of a doubleheader are seven innings in length.

The Legends open a three-game series in Bowling Green Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. Eastern time.
