Hagerstown Suns News Release

HICKORY, NC - The Hagerstown Suns (23-25) beat the Hickory Crawdads (25-25) by a score of 4-3 on Monday behind excellent pitching by starter Marcos Frias and relievers Carlos Peralta and Osvaldo Rodriguez.

Frias, a 20-year old out of the Dominican Republic, pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits to earn the win. Frias (3-1), did allow two unearned runs, but lowered his season ERA to 2.45.

Peralta and Rodriguez each pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen, and Rodriguez earned his eighth save of the season while allowing one walk and striking out one hitter in the ninth inning.

The Hagerstown offense gave the Suns an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, as Steve Lomardozzi and Derek Norris both singled and eventually scored, thanks in large part to three errors committed by the Hickory defense.

The Suns added another run in the top of the fourth inning, as Charlie Fermaint singled and was driven in on an double by right fielder Michael Guerrero.

All three of Hickory's runs came in the bottom of the fourth, knotting the game at 3-3 on two hits and an error. Only one of the three runs was earned.

The Suns final run came in the top of the fifth inning, as Jose Lozada and Derek Norris singled before first baseman Tyler Moore drove in Lozada with a single of his own to right field.

Hickory starting pitcher Wilfredo Boscan (3-2) took the loss by allowing four runs, two of which were earned, in four and two thirds innings of work.

The Suns and Crawdads will finish their four-game series on Tuesday, June 2nd at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, NC. Following the game, the Suns will return to Hagerstown to start a four game series with the Lake County Captains on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
