HICKORY, N.C. - The Hagerstown Suns held on for a narrow 4-3 win against the Hickory Crawdads before 831 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Monday evening. The win gives the Suns the series lead, two-games-to-one, heading to the finale Tuesday morning at 11 a.m.

The Suns (23-25) got on the board with a pair of unearned runs against Crawdads starter RHP Wilfredo Boscan (3-2) in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. Hagerstown then tacked on another run in the top of the fourth, after a two-out single by LF Charlie Fermaint and an RBI double by RF Michael Guerrero to make it 3-0.

The Crawdads (25-25) battled back to tie the game with three runs against RHP Marcos Frias (3-1) in the bottom of the fourth. 1B Erik Morrison led off the inning with a double, followed by a walk drawn by RF Mike Bianucci. 3B Matt West then grounded a ball to SS Jose Lozada, who overthrew second base on an attempted fielder's choice. The ball sailed into right field, enabling Morrison to score from second, Bianucci to move to third and West to advance to second base, all with no outs. With one out later in the inning, LF Cristian Santana grounded the ball through the left side of the infield for a two-run single to tie the game, 3-3.

However, Hagerstown came back with a run against Boscan in the fifth inning, chasing the righty from the mound and bringing in LHP Glenn Swanson. Swanson dealt two scoreless innings in relief to keep Hagerstown at four runs before giving way to RHP Mark Hamburger in the top of the seventh. Hamburger followed suit with 2.1 innings of scoreless work, giving up just one hit and striking out three to keep it only a one-run Hagerstown lead. However, Frias ended up tossing seven innings to earn the win before giving way to the Suns bullpen. RHP Carlos Peralta pitched a scoreless eighth for the hold, while RHP Osvaldo Rodriguez earned the save with a scoreless ninth to make the 4-3 lead final. Boscan was tagged with the loss for the Crawdads, his first since Opening Night on April 9.
