Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Lexington, KY - Kyle Nicholson delivered one of the league's best pitching performances of the season Saturday night with a complete game victory over the Lexington Legends. Lexington's Ross Seaton answered against the Augusta GreenJackets on Monday night with his own gem - a complete game 5-0 shutout to split the four-game set between the Legends and GreenJackets from Applebee's Park.

Seaton's shutout is only the second of the season in the South Atlantic League - the other was Kyle Nicholson's seven-inning blanking of the Asheville Tourists on May 18th - and the first nine-inning complete game shutout. Seaton (6-4) dominated the GreenJackets, allowing just three hits without a walk and striking out six.

Ehire Adrianza doubled in the fifth and was the only Augusta hitter to reach second. The other two baserunners came on a pair of singles and a fielding error in the third.

Aaron King ran into trouble and bad luck in the first. After a groundball to third that may have been a double play with one out and a runner on was mishandled by Charlie Culberson, King allowed a three-run home run to Brian Pellegrini to give the Legends a first-inning lead. Lexington added another in the third on a Matt Klimas throwing error and their final run in the sixth off reliever Andrew Reichard on Ronnie Ramirez's RBI single.

King (1-3) struck out six in four innings, allowing four runs - two earned - on four hits with a pair of walks. Kyle Woodruff threw a clean eighth for his first scoreless appearance as a GreenJacket.

The GreenJackets travel to Rome to continue the road trip with a four-game series against the Rome Braves. Mike Loree (1-4, 5.40) gets the start for Augusta and will be opposed by future Hall-of-Famer Tom Glavine, making a rehab start for the Rome Braves. The lefty, owner of more than 300 major league wins, has not pitched in the big leagues yet this season. First pitch from State Mutual Stadium comes at 7:05 p.m.
