OMAHA, NE - Mark and Karil Whetstone have received two free full-season tickets for the team's 2009 season. The Omaha couple is the recipient of the second annual Season Ticket Grant program, presented by the Royals, KPTM-Fox 42 and The Reader.

In March and April, online nominations were accepted at www.kptm.com for anybody to write about a person they knew who recently experience a financial hardship, personal loss, or a devastating circumstance that affected their lives.

Karil wrote that her husband, Mark "works long hours at his job. Last September 1st, he suffered a stroke. It really took a toll on his health." She added: "he needs time to relax. His job is very demanding and time-consuming. I'm worried if he doesn't (relax), he'll have another stroke."

Now the Whetstones will have 2009 season tickets so they can both relax and enjoy Major League-affiliated professional baseball at Rosenblatt Stadium this season. They will also receive all the incentives, promotions, parties and other perks extended to the team's valued season ticket holders.

"The Omaha Royals are very pleased to continue this special program," said Lesley Crutcher, Royals Director of Community Relations. "We hope this season ticket grant will help the Whetstones experience some entertainment after the hardships they have suffered."
