Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK - The Express (13-16) has won nine of its last 13 games, and after a 12-10 shootout win over Oklahoma City (10-16) Friday night at the Dell Diamond, it appears there's plenty of ammo left in the Round Rock bats.
The Express' big inning came in the sixth, tied 8-8. Reggie Abercrombie led off the frame with a double through the hole at shortstop, and Tommy Manzella followed with a single to left field that scored Abercrombie. Brian Bogusevic then reached on a fielding error by German Duran at third base, and Saccomanno made the slip-up count with a single to center field that scored Manzella and moved Bogusevic to third. John Gall kept things going with a double to left field, scoring Bogusevic easily and advancing Saccomanno to third. Lou Santangelo hit a sacrifice fly to score Saccomanno to apply the final blow, giving Round Rock the 12-8 advantage.
Oklahoma City managed two runs on three hit and an error in the seventh inning, but it was the last time the RedHawks would score. Express closer Chad Paronto shut the door with a six-out save, and Round Rock improved to 7-10 at home this season. Paronto has now converted eight saves on the season, leading the Pacific Coast League.
Abercrombie led the Express with four hits, two doubles, an RBI and four runs scored. Manzella wasn't far behind with three hits, a home run (his first of the season), four RBI and three runs scored. It was a hit parade for Round Rock, which roped a season high 18 hits, and had seven total players with multiple hits. The teams combined banged out 34 total hits.
The teams meet for game two of a four-game stint Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Express RHP Bud Norris will take the mound against RedHawks RHP Luis Mendoza.
