Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-Aces starter Billy Buckner allowed just a run over five innings and picked up his first win of the season, as the Reno Aces topped the Sacramento River Cats 4-1 in the series finale at Raley Field.
Reno has now won back-to-back series, three games to one.
The Aces padded Buckner with an early three-run lead, and the right-hander didn't let it slip away.
Buckner (1-0) scattered a run on four hits through five frames. He walked two and punched out two. Making his first relief appearance of the season, Travis Blackley worked 2.1 scoreless innings. Bobby Korecky (1) came on to slam the door in the eighth for a five-out save.
At the plate for Reno, Chris Roberson blasted his fourth home run of the season and second in as many days, a solo shot that put the Aces on the board in the third. In the same inning, Rusty Ryal hit a two-run shot to make the score 3-0. In the sixth, Agustin Murillo chipped in a run-scoring single for the Aces.
The loss fell to Sacramento starter Chad Reineke (0-1), who surrendered three runs on six hits over five innings pitched.
The Aces now return home for a four-game series with the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. In the opener, RHP Hector Ambriz (0-0, 0.00 ERA) gets the nod for Reno in his first-career Triple-A start. The Grizzlies will counter with RHP Billy Sadler (2-0, 3.00 ERA).
