Friday, February 20 vs. Gwinnett, 6-1 W

BILOXI, MS - Mathieu Melanson and Mike Berry each scored a pair of goals and Bill LeClerc and Mark Rooneem each chipped in a goal of their own as the Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 6-1 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday.

LeClerc gave the Sea Wolves a 1-0 lead at 12:55 of the first period when he took a feed from Alex Parent and threw a wrist shot at the net from the left point that beat the Gladiators' netminder Josh Johnson through traffic.

The Sea Wolves took a commanding lead in the second period, when Mike Berry hammered home a rebound while on his knees for a power-play goal at 10:44, and then Mathieu Melanson blasted a pass from Ryan Cruthers into the net for his 21st goal of the season on the power play 40 seconds later.

Melanson potted his second of the night just 1:25 into the third period, and then Mark Rooneem broke into the Gwinnett end of the pond, split the Gladiators' defensemen Jeff Dunne and Mike Looby and beat Johnson on the backhand for a 5-0 Sea Wolves lead at 2:04.

Tom Zanoski's fourth goal of the season got the Gladiators on the scoreboard at 7:53 of the third, but it was too little, too late, as the Sea Wolves continued to control play through the third frame.

Mike Berry's second goal of the game gave Mississippi a 6-1 lead at 11:16 of the third period.

Ryan Munce made 39 saves to earn the win, and the Sea Wolves power play was 3-for-4.

Saturday, February 21 vs. Gwinnett, 4-3 SOW

BILOXI, MS - For the second straight night, the Mississippi Sea Wolves came from behind in the third period to tie the game at four to force overtime, with Mississippi coming out on the good end of the shootout decision, as Alex Parent potted the shootout winner in the sixth round as the Sea Wolves won 5-4 on home ice on Friday night.

For the third game in a row, Mississippi potted a shorthand goal, this time taking a 1-0 lead on Jeremy Hall's fifth goal of the season when he stole the puck away just inside the blueline and tucked it behind Checkers goalie Maxime Daigneault at 9:09 of the first period.

Shortly thereafter, it appeared as though Jason Tejchma had potted a power-play goal to give the Sea Wolves a 2-0 lead, but referee Steve Patafie ruled that Tejchma, who was in the process of stopping, used a kicking motion to send the puck in the net and waved the goal off. Mike Bayrack evened the game at one-apiece when he broke down the ice two-on-one, taking a pass from Michel Leveille and firing it over Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce's catching glove at 18:01 of the first. With 10 second remaining, Charlotte's Brad Ralph hammered a loose puck past Munce for a power play goal and a 2-1 Charlotte lead.

The Sea Wolves drew even at two just 70 seconds into the second period when Alex Parent banged home the rebound of Mathieu Melanson's shot. Mathieu Melanson's 19th goal of the season regained the lead for Mississippi when he grabbed a pass from Jeff Kyrzakos and put it past Daigneault at 9:24 of the second. Charlotte's Julien Brouillette grabbed a pass in the left circle from Bayrack and fired it past Munce for his ninth of the season at 11:06. At 14:17, Jeff Miles grabbed a loose puck just inside the blueline and fired it through Munce's pads to give Charlotte a 4-3 lead heading into the locker room after two periods.

Mike Berry's 10th goal of the season tied the game at four when he drove to the net and slammed the puck through Daigneault's pads at 5:26 of the third period. Despite two power plays late in the third period, Mississippi was unable to pull ahead in the waning minutes of the third period, and the game went to overtime, the fifth game between the Checkers and the Sea Wolves to go to an extra session this season.

After a scoreless overtime, the Sea Wolves iced the victory with Alex Parent's goal in the sixth round of the shootout.

Ryan Munce made 27 saves to earn the win, and the Sea Wolves were 0-for-7 on the power play.
