All-Star Goalie Murray Acquired From Ontario

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Monday that they have acquired goaltender John Murray from the Ontario Reign in exchange for future considerations.

A native of Lancaster, Pa., Murray appeared in 24 games with Ontario thus far this season, compiling a 13-8-3 record with two shutouts, a 2.81 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. The 21 year-old Murray also appeared in the 2009 ECHL All-Star Game presented by GuardianWear, allowing five goals on 18 shots in the third period for the National Conference.

The 6-0, 197-pound Murray made his professional debut last season, appearing in eight games with Reading of the ECHL, earning a 3-3-1 record, an .886 save percentage and a goals-against average of 3.36. Prior to turning professional, Murray played two seasons of Major Junior hockey with Kingston and Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League, appearing in 86 OHL games from 2006-08 and posting a record of 52-24-4 in that span.
