Sea Dogs to Return to Teal on "1994 Night"

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs will pay tribute to their inaugural season; 1994 by hosting "1994 Night" at the ballpark on Friday, September 4th at 7:00 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays). Highlighting the evening will be the return of the Sea Dogs' classic teal uniforms and an appearance by former Sea Dogs' pitcher Don Perigny.

For the first time since September 1st, 2002 the Portland Sea Dogs will take the field wearing teal uniforms. From 1994 through 2002 the Portland Sea Dogs were affiliated with the Florida Marlins and team colors were teal and black. As the Sea Dogs pay tribute to their first season, the Sea Dogs will return to the teal uniforms for one night only on Friday, September 4th. On September 18th, 2002 the Sea Dogs ended a nine year affiliation with the Florida Marlins and began an affiliation with the Boston Red Sox. As part of the change the Sea Dogs changed the team colors to red and blue.

Don Perigny, who pitched for the Portland Sea Dogs in 1994, will return to Hadlcok Field to throw-out the ceremonial first-pitch on "1994 Night". Perigny appeared in 49 games for the Sea Dogs in 1994 notching a 6-9 record with 11 saves and a 3.86 ERA. Perigny played five seasons of minor league baseball, reaching as high as Triple-A in 1995. Perigny, now makes his home in Litchfield, New Hampshire.

As fans enter the front gate they will receive a copy of the front page of the April 19th, 1994 Portland Press Herald newspaper with the Press Herald's coverage of the Sea Dogs' first game at Hadlock Field on April 18th, 1994, courtesy of the Portland Press Herald.

Additionally the Sea Dogs will play music hits from the 1994 season throughout the evening including hits such as "The Sign" by Ace of Base, "Hero" by Mariah Carey, and "Stay" by Lisa Loeb. The Sea Dogs Cinemagic Movie trivia will feature a movie from 1994. The Sea Dogs video board will show highlights and memories of the 1994 season such as Kathie Lee Gifford singing the National Anthem for the first home game, Charles Johnson's game winning home run in the inaugural game, and much more.

In 1994, the vision of baseball in Portland became reality. Baseball returned to Maine for the first since 1988 when the Triple-A Maine Guide and Maine Phillies played in Old Orchard Beach. The Sea Dogs also marked the first professional team in Portland since 1949. The Sea Dogs compiled a 60-81 record in their inaugural season. Among the highlights of the season was the play of catcher Charles Johnson and a rehab appearance by Gary Sheffield. The Sea Dogs set an All-Time Eastern League record by attracting 375,197 fans in 1994.

The Sea Dogs 2009 campaign concludes on Monday, September 7th at 1:00 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Tickets are available for all remaining games. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or order online at www.seadogs.com.

Individual tickets for the 2010 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 7th at 9:00 AM at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office.
