Sea Dogs Take Opener in Binghamton, 4-1

Binghamton, NY - Dedgar Jimenez (10-7) tossed six scoreless innings, leading the Portland Sea Dogs (61-75) to a 4-1 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (63-74) on Friday night at NYSEG Stadium.
Jimenez scattered two hits on two walks, and seven strikeouts, finishing the season 8-1 in his final 11 games.
The Sea Dogs jumped on the board first, scoring a run in the opening frame on a sacrifice fly by Chris Madera.
Portland added three runs in the fourth inning. Danny Mars nailed an RBI single, and with two outs, Deiner Lopez nailed a two-run triple, increasing the lead to 4-0.
Binghamton's Harol Gonzalez (0-9) took the loss, yielding four runs on eight hits over five innings.
Darwinzon Hernandez pitched two innings, allowing the lone run in the eighth inning. Hernandez fanned four over two innings.
Josh Taylor pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his eighth save of the season.
The start of the game was delayed one hour and 18 minutes due to rain.
The Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate) continue their four-game series on Saturday night with a 6:05 PM start at NYSEG Stadium. LHP Daniel McGrath (3-3, 3.56) is on the mound for Portland. Binghamton counters with RHP Mickey Jannis (10-6, 3.61).
