Portland Sea Dogs News Release
THE STREAK IS OVER: Portland's season-high, six-game winning streak was snapped by the Connecticut Defenders on Wednesday night...The two teams play the rubber game of their series this evening at Dodd Stadium...After tonight's game, both teams travel to Hadlock Field, beginning a four-game series in three days over the weekend...Saturday night is the first of four doubleheaders between the âDogs and Defenders...On Monday, Portland travels to Erie, beginning a 6-game roadtrip.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: The Sea Dogs were held to just two hits by three Connecticut Defenders, losing 5-2 on Wednesday night at Dodd Stadium. Alex Hinshaw (2-1) worked five innings on one hit and two runs to earn the win for Connecticut. Ryan Sadowski fired three perfect innings for the hold and Brian Anderson earned his ninth save of the season with a scoreless ninth. Tommy Hottovy (1-6) suffered the loss, yielding four runs over 5 and 1/3 innings. Eric Crozier blasted a lead off home run in the fifth inning and Jeff Natale had a ninth inning single for Portland's two hits. Pat Dobson and Trey Webb each hit solo home runs for the Defenders, who added a run off Barry Hertzler in the eighth inning.
LONGEST SINCE WHO? Jed Lowrie has reached base safely in 29 straight games, the longest streak for a Sea Dog since Kevin Youkilis reached in his final 62 games with Portland.
